Together With Water Babies Swim Lessons!

Early years swimming. Skills that last.

Water Babies is a swimming program for children aged 0 to 5. Our group lessons in warm pools focus on water safety, core swimming skills and building confidence. Founded in the UK, we teach parents how to teach their babies to swim.

A safe and supportive introduction to water. Playful parent and child activities help little ones feel comfortable and relaxed in our warm water pools.

A structured program that builds week by week. Our curriculum is science based and developed with leading early years aquatic specialists, so each lesson builds on the last while supporting every child's age, stage and ability.

Expert teachers with advanced training. Every Water Babies teacher completes more than 120 hours of specialist training, above the Canadian standard, so every lesson is safe, supportive and right for your child's age.

Water Babies is now in Burlington and Oakville. We would love to welcome you and your little one to the pool.

Burlington Literary Festival Returns With Star-Studded Lineup 📚

BPL

Love books and meeting the people behind your favourite stories? Burlington’s literary scene is getting ready for a month of inspiration, and everyone is invited!

The Burlington Public Library’s sixth annual Burlington Literary Festival (BurlLITFest) has announced its 2026 lineup, featuring a month of author talks and events celebrating books and writing.

This year’s guests include Toronto Blue Jays sportscaster Hazel Mae, Indigenous writer and broadcaster Jesse Wente, and author and CBC host Antonio Michael Downing. Acclaimed Canadian authors Linwood Barclay, Ian Brown, Terry Fallis, and Will Ferguson are also on the schedule. The festival also offers something for younger readers and aspiring writers, with children’s events, writing workshops, and an open mic night planned throughout November.

Even better, every festival event is free to attend, and you don’t need a library card to join in. Registration opens Wednesday, Oct. 21st at noon, and some events are expected to fill quickly, so book lovers are encouraged to check out the schedule and plan ahead.

The BurlLITFest is a wonderful opportunity to discover new voices and connect with fellow readers right here in the community.

Did You Hear Those Booms? Two Small Earthquakes Shake Burlington 🌎

Did you hear a loud bang or feel a quick tremor this week? Some Burlington residents were left wondering what was happening overnight, and earthquake reports offer an explanation.

Two small earthquakes were recorded near Burlington late Tuesday, Oct. 13th, and early Wednesday, Oct. 14th, according to Earthquakes Canada. The first registered magnitude 1.4 at 10:42 pm, followed by a magnitude 1.5 tremor at 1:13 am. Both occurred about seven kilometres east of Burlington, at a depth of five kilometres.

Residents took to social media and described hearing loud bangs or sounds resembling a sonic boom. Despite the surprising noises, the quakes were minor, and no damage was reported.

While earthquakes may not be top of mind in Burlington, small tremors can happen in southwestern Ontario.

Meet Tayler Hill: Your New Burlington Digest Writer! ✍️

Hi, Burlington! I’m Tayler Hill, and I’m excited to introduce myself as the new writer for the Burlington Digest!

Burlington has always been my home, so when I saw that Burlington Digest was looking for a new writer, I jumped at the opportunity to combine my love for my community with my passion for storytelling.

I have a double degree in Writing and Publishing and work as a book editor, helping authors bring their stories to life. As a book editor, I get to spend my days immersed in words and helping people shape their words into the most powerful version of the story only they can tell. Now, I’m thrilled to bring that passion closer to home by sharing the local events, hidden gems, community initiatives, and people that make Burlington such a special place to live.

Outside of work, you can find me around Burlington walking the trails, exploring events and new eats with my daughter, husband, and our dog, Socks. If you see us, be sure to say hi, and Socks welcomes belly rubs from all!

I can’t wait to help you discover more of what’s happening right here in our city. Thanks for welcoming me to the Burlington Digest community. I’m so happy to be here!

Happy reading!
