Together With Divinity Wellness!

Wellness, Community & Care at Divinity Wellness
Some weeks you need a massage to get the tension out of your shoulders. Other weeks it's acupuncture, an evening with other people, or an hour somewhere quiet where nothing is asked of you.
We do all of it in one space. Our Registered Massage Therapy and acupuncture appointments are covered by many extended health plans, so the benefits you already pay for can go toward feeling better.
Through the month our community comes together for sound healing, meditation, breathwork, restorative yoga, Reiki and wellness talks. Most of it happens in our Energy Enhancement (EE) System room, the only 24 unit EE System in the GTA and a good place to sit and do nothing at all. See what's coming up this month.

Five Candidates for Mayor ⚖️

City of Burlington Photo
Burlington's municipal election is taking shape, with five candidates now confirmed in the race for mayor and 30 total candidates competing across the city's six wards this October.
Incumbent Mayor Marianne Meed Ward is seeking re-election. She's being challenged by councillors Lisa Kearns and Rory Nisan, along with Keith Demoe and Yugalkeesor Ramdhonee, the only non-councillors in the running.
Several wards are guaranteed new councillors. Ward 2 and Ward 3 will see a change with Kearns and Nisan running for mayor this year, and Ward 4 incumbent Shawna Stolte decided not to run again. The most crowded race is in Ward 6, where incumbent Angelo Bentivegna faces six challengers.
The upcoming election takes place October 14-26, visit myvote.burlington.ca for more information.
Soccer Facility Proposal Stalls ⚽
A proposed soccer training facility in north Burlington has hit a snag after the province revoked a decades-old planning framework earlier this summer.
Gary Raulino, president of Scrosoppi FC, had applied to amend a minister's zoning order to build the facility on a 38.8-hectare property at 5244 No. 1 Sideroad, east of Appleby Line and north of Highway 407.
But on July 3, the province scrapped the 48-year-old Parkway Belt West Plan and five related zoning orders, including the one Raulino was trying to amend. The ministry confirmed earlier this month it won't proceed with the application.
Raulino says discussions with the province are ongoing.
Ciancones Honored by Chamber 🏆
The Burlington Chamber of Commerce has picked the Ciancone family, James, Leanne, and Aaron, as its 2026 Distinguished Business Persons, recognizing their work building Pearle Hospitality Group into one of the region's most respected destinations.
The family operates a portfolio that includes award-winning restaurants, event venues, hotels, a farm, and golf facilities across Ontario, employing hundreds of people. Their business roots in Burlington go back to 1936.

Emille Shoes Celebrates 70 Years 👟

Emille Shoes Factory Shoe Outlet has been selling footwear at the same Fairview Street location since 1956, when the road was still dirt and the building was a factory making women's dress shoes.
Christian Svacina runs the business now, the third generation of his family to do so. His grandfather Emil started the operation, his father Milo opened the retail side in the 1970s, and Christian took over in 1999. His own children, the fourth generation, are already working in the store.
The 8,500 square foot shop at 2394 Fairview Street employs about 45 people and has raised roughly $42,000 for Joseph Brant Hospital Foundation over the years. At a 70th anniversary barbecue last Saturday, the store brought in another $1,100 for the hospital and $2,200 for Halton Women's Place.
