Burlington’s Christmas Butter Tart and Artisan Market Returns 🥧

from gottaluvbuttertarts.ca

Love butter tarts and getting a head start on holiday shopping? Burlington has a seasonal outing coming up! The Christmas Butter Tart and Artisan Market arrives at Burlington Centre on Saturday, Nov. 7th, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, bringing together more than 50 vendors for a day of festive treats and unique local finds. Admission is free.

Organized by Gotta L-U-V Butter Tarts, the market will feature bakers from all around, with traditional butter tarts and creative flavours to try. Visitors can also browse handmade artisan goods, specialty foods, and holiday gifts from vendors offering everything from cinnamon treats to hot sauce and local meats.

Whether you’re stocking up on sweets and gifts or simply enjoying a festive outing, it’s a tasty way to support small businesses and kick off the holiday season.

Burlington Earns Recognition for Making Cycling Safer 🚲

The city is earning recognition for making cycling adventures more accessible!

Burlington is one of eight Ontario municipalities to receive a 2026 Bicycle Friendly Community Award, presented at the Ontario Bike Summit. The award recognizes efforts to improve cycling safety and accessibility through infrastructure, education, planning, and community engagement.

For Burlington residents, the recognition celebrates more ways to connect neighbourhoods, enjoy local trails, and choose active transportation. With more than 50 kilometers of multi-use pathways alongside roads, plus about 31 kilometers of off-road paths, including the popular Centennial Trail, there’s plenty to enjoy.

Whether you’re a regular cyclist or just enjoy a leisurely ride, consider exploring Burlington by bike!

Calling All Dachshunds! Burlington’s Santa Claus Parade Could Use More Sausage Dogs 🐶

Stock Image

Burlington’s downtown streets will soon be filled with holiday cheer, and this year, a parade of tiny legs and wagging tails could steal the show! Local dachshunds and their owners are invited to join a festive group marching in the city’s Santa Claus Parade Sunday, Dec. 6th.

Known as “Dachshund Through the Snow,” the group brought about 20 dachshunds dressed in Christmas outfits to last year’s parade. Organizer Emmalyne Hietikko hopes even more sausage dogs will join the fun this time around.

Dachshund owners interested in participating can connect with Hietikko through the Dachshund Through the Snow Facebook group for details.

Are you going to the Santa Claus Parade this year?

Clear Out Your Clutter and Give Old Electronics a Second Life ♻️

Have old phones, tangled chargers, or forgotten electronics taking up space at home? Residents can clear out their clutter and help keep reusable materials out of landfill at BurlingtonGreen’s upcoming Zero Waste Drop-Off event!

The event takes place in the parking lot at Burlington Centre, near Guelph Line and Fairview Street. Residents can bring unwanted electronics, batteries, ink cartridges, and other accepted items for responsible recycling. Large appliances are not accepted.

There’s more than just recycling: TerraCycle bins will collect certain hard-to-recycle items, while gently used clothing, shoes, accessories, and toys will be accepted for an upcoming clothing swap. Inside the mall, families can also explore interactive activities focused on reducing waste.

It’s an easy way for Burlington neighbours to make a difference and clear some clutter, one item at a time. BurlingtonGreen would appreciate $5 donations (optional) to help support ongoing environmental initiatives.

Where: Burlington Centre, 777 Guelph Line
When: Saturday, Oct. 17th, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm

Check the accepted-item list at BurlingtonGreen’s event page before you go.

Pet Spotlight: Meet Natalie 🐱

Burlington Humane Society

Natalie is a lovely two-year-old cat who may be shy when you first meet her, but there’s a sweet, affectionate companion waiting to shine through. During her time in foster care, Natalie blossomed into a friendly girl who loves spending time with her people.

She’s also a big fan of other cats, so she’d be thrilled to find a home with a feline friend to keep her company. With patience, kindness, and a little time to settle in, Natalie has so much potential to flourish.

After shelter life, she’s ready for a fresh start with a family who will let her feel safe and loved at her own pace. If you’re ready to welcome a gentle new companion into your home, this sweet girl may be the perfect match.
