Live Music @ Canada Celebrates 🎶

They day is almost here for Burlington’s Canada Celebrates event, one of FIFA’s first-of-it’s-kind watch parties happening across Canada that will feature football themed activations alongside food and live music.

The event runs this Thursday, July 9th from 1 to 9 p.m. at Spencer Smith Park with the World Cup quarterfinals match starting at 4 p.m. on a large outdoor screen. Face painting, soccer challenges, and kid-friendly workshops from Home Depot and SportChek are also on the lineup.

Three local artists will be performing: Alfie Smith takes the stage at 2 p.m., followed by Lucky Honey at 6 p.m. and Rocket and the Renegades at 8 p.m.

Lawn chairs and blankets are encouraged for a comfortable viewing experience, and food and drink vendors will be onsite throughout the afternoon and evening.

Concerts in the Park Returns 🎶

Access Storage on Facebook

Burlington's free summer concert series is back at Central Park Bandshell (2311 New Street), running every Sunday and Wednesday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. through the end of August.

The lineup spans 21 concerts across genres, big band, jazz, Dixieland, Latin, country, folk, and rock. Acts include the Burlington Teen Tour Band, Swingline, Kendra Gabrielle, and Johannes Linstead.

The series kicked off Sunday, June 21st with the Burlington Teen Tour Band concert, and the summer line up is packed full. Catch The Loretta Hale Big Band at the next one this Wednesday.

Hidden Valley Restoration Days 🌳

Conservation Halton is running a series of volunteer restoration days at Hidden Valley Park this summer, with local residents invited to help plant native trees, shrubs, and wildflowers to improve our local ecosystem.

Sessions are scheduled for July 22, August 5, and August 19, with participants working alongside CH's landscape restoration team to strengthen ecological links between Cootes Paradise and the Niagara Escarpment.

A native tree planting event will follow on September 19. All supplies are provided, and volunteers will be asked to sign a waiver on arrival.

FIFA Volunteers Needed Thursday 🌳

BurlingtonGreen

Want to help the community while watching the game? BurlingtonGreen is looking for volunteers to help manage waste sorting at Thursday’s FIFA Celebration Event.

Volunteers will help attendees sort recycling, compost, and garbage correctly during the event. No experience is required, and the group provides training, work gloves, and a t-shirt.

Anyone 14 and older can sign up, and High school students can earn volunteer hours while supporting a cleaner community event.

HCDSB Grads Win Bronze Medals 🏆

Three Burlington students have earned the Governor General's Bronze Medal for finishing at the top of their graduating class. The award goes to the student with the highest academic average in all Grade 11 and 12 courses at each secondary school.

The recipients were recognized for exceptional academic achievement and their commitment to learning. The medal program has been running for nearly 150 years and was created in 1873 by Lord Dufferin, Canada's third Governor General after Confederation.

Congrats to Sofia Brank from Assumption, Avery Goulet from Corpus Christi, and Mica Butt from Notre Dame for their impressive achievement!
