The free event runs from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Village Square and the Promenade Walkway near Brant and Elgin streets. Find a new favourite downtown spot, or stop in at an old one, while spending the afternoon with friends, family, and neighbours.

Kelly’s Bake Shoppe Returns to Downtown Burlington 🍰

Kelly’s Bake Instagram

A beloved Burlington bakery is getting ready to welcome customers back downtown.

Kelly’s Bake Shoppe will officially reopen on Saturday, Oct. 10th, about 18 months after its original Burlington location closed. The new shop is located at the corner of Brant Street and Maria Street, just up the road from its former home.

Kelly’s first opened on Brant Street in 2012 and became known for its gluten-free goodies before the original building was demolished for a future condominium development.

The return will give longtime customers another chance to enjoy the bakery’s allergy-friendly treats while welcoming new and previous visitors.

Work Starts on Spencer Smith Park Cherry Tree Path 🌸

Spencer Smith Google Reviews

Wondering what the fenced-off area in the park is? Work is underway at Spencer Smith Park on a new pathway extension beneath the famous cherry trees that bring visitors from all around.

Construction began Monday, Sept. 28th, with crews building a new four-metre-wide concrete path extending from the existing walkway along Lakeshore Road. Crews will also remove nine invasive trees, including Tree of Heaven, mulberry and Norway maple.

In spring 2027, the City will plant 18 new cherry trees along the new pathway. The City’s longer-term plan calls for replacing aging cherry trees in 2031. The phased project will improve accessibility while preserving Burlington’s beloved cherry tree display for future generations.

For Burlington residents, the project helps ensure this special waterfront gathering place remains part of the community for years to come.

Burlington Community Walks for Joseph Brant Hospital 💚

Walk To The Lighthouse

Hundreds of Burlington residents came together Sunday for the sixth annual Walk to the Lighthouse in support of Joseph Brant Hospital.

The community fundraiser brought participants together for a walk along the waterfront to the lighthouse, raising support for the hospital's mental health and addictions services. The event also featured information booths and opportunities for participants to connect with others supporting the cause. The annual walk has become an opportunity for residents to come together, enjoy the waterfront, and support important healthcare services in our community.

Events like this show the strength of Burlington’s community spirit and the difference residents can make when they come together.

Play It Again Sports Returns to Burlington 🏒

Anyone looking for affordable sports equipment or seeking to get rid of used gear will soon have a familiar option back in the community.

Play It Again Sports is officially opening its new Burlington location at 2080 Appleby Line on Thursday, Oct. 1st, and is hiring. The store had been semi-open for several weeks, accepting used sporting equipment, and will now begin selling pre-owned gear to local customers.

The chain’s previous Burlington location on Walkers Line closed in April 2025, meaning residents had to travel to Hamilton or Milton to shop at the nearest locations. The new Appleby Line store brings the buy-and-sell sports equipment model back to Burlington, giving local families another option to gear up for the season.
