A Taste of Thailand Is Coming to Dundas Street! 🍜

A new restaurant is planned for a familiar Burlington location. Thairoomgrand has put up signage at the restaurant space at 3600 Dundas Street. The long-vacant site where Burlington Brewery was located at the corner of Dundas Street and Walkers Line is getting ready for a fresh start, this time with Thai food on the menu.

The Thai restaurant chain already has several locations across the GTA, including Toronto, Etobicoke, Newmarket, and Oshawa. The company has also begun advertising for server positions, suggesting preparations are underway. There’s no opening date announced just yet, but it’s welcome news for the neighbourhood to see activity returning to a space that has been sitting empty.

Burlington food lovers can get ready to enjoy their favourite Thai dishes right here in the city!

New Provincial Zoning Orders Outline Future Development at Millcroft 🌳

Millcroft Against Development

The future of Burlington’s Millcroft Golf Course is taking another turn after the Ontario government issued Minister’s Zoning Orders allowing additional residential development on parts of the property, despite Burlington City Council previously refusing the latest development proposal.

The provincial orders, issued October 23rd, permit approximately 138 detached homes and townhouses across six areas of the golf course lands. A separate order also allows long-term care and retirement homes at 4274 Dundas Street.

There is some important news for residents concerned about preserving green space: the City’s request to protect approximately 30 hectares of the golf course lands as open space was approved. However, that protection will not take effect until occupancy permits have been issued for all homes planned under the provincial zoning order.

For Millcroft residents and the wider Burlington community, the decisions mark another significant chapter in the ongoing debate over development, neighbourhood character and the future of local green space.
