A More Connected Hospital Experience 🏥

Joseph Brant Hospital
Burlington patients could soon have an easier way to keep track of their hospital care, thanks to an upgrade at Joseph Brant Hospital.
Starting November 1st, the hospital will introduce Dovetale, a new digital health information system developed by St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton. The change is part of Project Harmony, a partnership designed to help care teams at both hospitals share patient information more seamlessly and coordinate care more effectively.
Patients will also gain access to MyDovetale, a secure online portal where they can view appointments and available health information online. The transition may slow some hospital processes during the first days and weeks as staff adjust, but the hope is to streamline information to patients faster. During the transition, Joseph Brant says patient safety and quality of care will remain top priorities, with trained support teams available to help.
Take a Trip Back in Time: A Historic Railway Adventure Just Outside Burlington 🚋
Looking for a fall outing that’s a little different from the usual pumpkin patch or nature walk? Burlington residents can hop in the car and head to nearby Milton for a ride through local transportation history with autumn colours along the way!
The Halton County Radial Railway Museum, located at 13629 Guelph Line in Milton, lets visitors ride restored vintage streetcars along two kilometres of scenic track. Riders are offered a glimpse of how people traveled generations ago, while the museum’s display barns and historic Rockwood Station provide even more to explore.
Admission includes unlimited streetcar rides, making it a fun option for families, history buffs, and anyone looking for a memorable day trip close to home. The museum is open on weekends through November 1st, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Admission is $26 for adults, $24 for seniors, and $14 for children ages 4–9.

Did You Know Burlington Will Give You $500 for a Neighbourhood Party? 🎃
Pine Cove Residents
What makes Burlington such a great place to live? Sometimes, it’s as simple as getting to know the people living right next door! And did you know the City can help make that happen with up to $500 for a neighbourhood gathering?
Through the Love My Neighbourhood program, the city helps residents bring people together for free community events. Pine Cove neighbours took advantage of the opportunity, turning their gathering into a fall festive celebration filled with pumpkin painting, cookie decorating, snacks, and entertainment from Beebop the Clown (and of course it’s not a true Canadian party without road hockey and Tim Hortons!)
It’s a wonderful example of how a little community funding can create memories and give neighbours a chance to chat and create friendships with those around them. Burlington residents can apply for up to $500 once a year to support an eligible neighbourhood event, with funding reimbursed after the gathering.
Want to bring your street together? Find eligibility details and learn how to apply through the City’s Love My Neighbourhood program.
Stories That Bring Us Together: Secret Path Week in Burlington 💚

The Gord Downie and Chanie Wenjack Fund
Music, storytelling, and culture are bringing people together for Secret Path Week, giving residents a chance to learn more about Indigenous histories, celebrate Indigenous artists, and reflect on the path toward reconciliation.
On Saturday, October 17th, The Burlington Performing Arts Centre (BPAC) hosted a day of Indigenous-led programming in support of the Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund. The afternoon invited families to enjoy storytelling, cultural teachings, dance and crafts with respected Elders Shannon Thunderbird and Kate Dickson. That evening, the theatre welcomed She Carries the Song, featuring Indigenous singer-songwriters in a celebration of music and stories passed between generations.
Secret Path Week runs October 17th–22nd and honours Chanie Wenjack and Gord Downie, encouraging Canadians to learn about the history and ongoing impacts of residential schools. Events like these offer meaningful ways to listen, learn, and connect with Indigenous voices right here in our community.
