The Walk to the Lighthouse for Mental Health and Addictions returns to the Joseph Brant Hospital parking lot on Sunday, September 27 from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m., for its sixth year.

A five-kilometre walk is the centre of it, with entertainment, a silent auction and an area set aside for kids filling in the rest of the afternoon. Registration is free.

Everything raised goes toward the new mental health and addictions ward in the works at Joseph Brant Hospital, through the hospital foundation's For All Minds campaign. The whole thing is put on by a volunteer committee, and you can sign up ahead of time on their site.

Burlington Baptist Church on New Street is putting on a candlelit concert on Friday, October 16, with a string quartet playing the greatest hits of the Eagles and Billy Joel against a room full of candles.

The hour covers both catalogues, so Take It Easy and Hotel California sit next to Piano Man and We Didn't Start the Fire, along with Vienna, Lyin' Eyes and a few others. Music starts at 6 p.m. and doors open at 5:30.

It is put on by SOLAS Presents, the same company behind the candlelight shows that have been touring churches and halls across Ontario. Seating is unreserved, all ages are welcome, and tickets start at $20 and go up to $65.

📚 Brant Hills Library Closed Until At Least Oct 1

Join us in celebrating Burlington’s own Myriad Ensemble as they bring home not one, but two gold medals in their first-ever competition as a group at the 2026 World Choir Games.

After being recognized by two members of the World Choir Council, the group of 60 traveled to Helsingborg, Sweden, taking home gold medals in both the Adult Chorus of Equal Voices and the Folklore and Indigenous Music with Accompaniment categories.

Choir founder Elisa Naccarato commented on the experience, “It was a very special moment for us; it was really about the spirit of choral singing, and we got to share our music and make something new out on the streets of Helsingborg.”

From a five-singer team in Naccarato’s parents’ living room to a 60-person team taking home two gold medals, it is a testament to hard work and perseverance.

With an impressive final score of 6-3, the Burlington Cougars, in a last-period surge, take home the win.

Facing the Niagara Canucks, the Cougars broke the ice with the first goal, with the Canucks later tying it in the second period. With a back-and-forth fight for the win, the Cougars surged in the third period with Zaiden Hraiche, Colin Ronalds, and Sean Short taking the tie to 6-3.

Come support the Cougars. Their next home game will be Friday against the Collingwood Blues.
