Join Us for a Charity Walkathon & Ice cream Supporting Our Community
You're invited to a fun, family-friendly morning in support of a great cause! Join Kiani & Co. Real Estate on Saturday, July 12, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Nelson Stadium (4181 New St., Burlington) for a 5 km walk benefiting Food for Life, Halton and Hamilton's largest food rescue organization.
After the walk, stay and enjoy complimentary ice cream, coffee, and tea while connecting with friends, neighbours, and our community. Whether you walk, donate, or simply stop by for ice cream to say hello, your support helps Food for Life provide nutritious food to thousands of local families each week. RSVP by July 6.
If you can't attend but would still like to support this incredible cause, donations are always welcome. We hope to see you there as we come together to make a meaningful difference in our community!

Movies by the Lake Returns 🎬

Another summer classic returns to keep you entertained during the week! The Burlington Downtown BIA is bringing back Movies by the Lake for a fifth season, with seven free outdoor screenings at Spencer Smith Park starting July 7.
The Tuesday evening series runs through August 18, kicking off with Bend It Like Beckham on July 7 and wrapping with Big on August 18. Other titles include Footloose, Dumb & Dumber, Ocean's 11, Stand by Me, and A League of Their Own.
Movies start at dusk (around 7:30 p.m.), and it's first-come seating on the lawn. Bring blankets, chairs, and snacks. The event is all-ages and alcohol-free, with cancellations posted to their socials if weather doesn't cooperate.
Anchorball Draws Crowds 🌸
If you haven't made it to Royal Botanical Gardens yet, the 18 towering Anchorball sculptures are still drawing crowds in Hendrie Park. The anime-inspired installations by American artist Ken Kelleher reach up to 12 feet tall and blend elegantly with the gardens at peak bloom.
There's a hidden AR layer if you're into that, scan QR codes at each piece to unlock a scavenger hunt and hear the artist talk through his vision, and the whole route takes about 90 minutes to walk.
The world-debut installation runs daily through September 20, so you've got all summer to check it out.
🇨🇦 Canada Day on Wednesday
Quick PSA: on Wednesday’s newsletter we incorrectly said Canada was on Tuesday July 1st, when it is actually on a Wednesday. Thanks to everyone who pointed that out!

Food For Life Gets New Truck 🚛

foodforlifecan on Instagram
Food for Life just unveiled a brand new refrigerated truck donated by the Rotary Club of Oakville Foundation, replacing an older vehicle that's been having refrigeration problems.
The 2027 Freightliner retails for more than $250,000 and comes at a critical time. Executive director Karen Randell says the nonprofit has seen a 30 per cent increase in the amount of food they've had to rescue this year to keep up with demand.
Mayor Marianne Meed Ward spoke at the unveiling earlier this week, noting that food insecurity in Burlington is often hidden. The new truck will help Food for Life continue rescuing fresh food that would otherwise go to waste and delivering it to families across Halton and Hamilton.
