Plains Road Could See Major Changes 🏗️

MapQuest

Plains Road East could look quite different in the coming years, after Burlington City Council ruled on three proposed developments that could bring hundreds of new homes to the area.

At its September 29th meeting, the council approved two projects: a nine-storey mixed-use building at 235 Plains Road East and 1022 Gallagher Road, with 140 proposed units, and a 12-storey mixed-use building at 517 Plains Road East, with 179 proposed units and space for ground-floor businesses.

However, the council refused a third proposal for a 25-storey mixed-use building at 1376 and 1382 Plains Road East, which would have included 283 residential units and retail space. The decisions shape how Aldershot and surrounding neighbourhoods grow, bringing new housing while raising questions about building heights, traffic, and the area's future character.

There’s still time for the decisions to be challenged: the deadline to appeal all three decisions to the Ontario Land Tribunal is Wednesday, October 28th. For Burlington residents, these developments are worth watching as the city continues to grow.

Burlington Is Represented! Four Players Named to Team Canada for Women’s Worlds 🇨🇦

Burlington hockey fans have plenty to cheer for! Four players with ties to Burlington have been named to Team Canada’s roster for the 2026 IIHF Women’s World Championship, bringing local pride to international ice.

Olympic medallists Emma Maltais and Renata Fast are returning to the national team, while Sara Manness and Kendall Cooper are set to make their senior national-team debuts.

Burlington is beyond proud as Maltais and Fast are Burlington natives, Manness previously starred with the Burlington Jr. Barracudas, and Cooper played boys hockey with the Burlington Eagles.

The tournament begins November 6th in Esbjerg, Denmark, where Canada will take on the world’s top women’s hockey teams.

Let’s cheer them on as they wear the maple leaf!

Korean BBQ Is Coming to Downtown Burlington — Here’s What We Know! 🥩

Miga Website

Get ready to fire up the grill, Burlington! A new Korean barbecue restaurant is coming to downtown, bringing a fresh dining experience to the former home of The Coop Wicked Chicken & Bar at 370 Brant Street.

Miga Korean BBQ is bringing its take on Korean dining to Burlington, with a focus on premium cuts of meat, authentic Korean flavours, and more than 20 years of experience in Korean barbecue.

The concept puts the grill right at the table, letting diners cook their own meat and enjoy a meal together. Miga’s menu highlights premium options, including Wagyu beef, alongside Korean favourites and shareable dishes. It will be an exciting option for dinner with friends, family or a special occasion.

The restaurant’s Burlington webpage confirms the new location is on the way, although an opening date has not yet been announced. Stay tuned!
