Together With Cascade Cleaning Company!

The Saturday you stopped losing

When was the last time your weekend went the way you wanted it to?

A few years ago, I wouldn’t have known the answer. Every weekend was devoted to doing chores while feeling awful about all the things I actually wanted to do and never had time for.

I would be tackling crunchy floors that needed vacuuming or dust that was setting off my allergies. But my elderly mom would still be waiting for a visit; my cousin in high school would still be struggling in science; my dreams of writing would continue to be put on hold; and three weeks would go by without pulling out my yoga mat.

Hiring a cleaner was one of the best decisions I've made. At 36, I know where I want to spend my time. I think you probably do, too.

SIP Festival at Village Square🍹

A cool new experience is coming to Burlington this month for those who like drinks, music, and food. SIP Niagara is bringing its pop-up festival to Village Square on Saturday, July 18, running 11am to 11pm with live music, DJs, and eight different bars set up across the downtown plaza.

The daytime session is free entry until 6pm, with live bands and food by Buvette. Evening admission is $10 and includes your first drink, or you opt for the “Ultimate Sip Experience” which comes with all-inclusive drinks from 6pm-11pm for $55.00. (…not a bad deal in this economy)

The lineup includes a caesar bar with over 100 ingredients, plus vodka, tequila, gin, wine, beer, cider, and mocktail stations. Damn Animal and Shyster play during the day, with DJs Tammy Vu and Anthony DiDomenico taking over at 6pm.

They also announced a Canada Day promo on Instagram offering buy one get one free tickets until July 5th with their code OHCANADA.

Britannia Road Summer Closure 🚧

Location map from Town of Oakville

A stretch of Britannia Road between Guelph Line and Walkers Line is closed until the end of September for culvert replacement work that started yesterday. Local access is being maintained up to the construction zone, but there's no through traffic.

The closure is the second phase of a project announced last year. The existing stormwater culvert is nearing the end of its service life, and the city's design consultant recommended a full road closure due to the structure's poor condition.

The two-culvert project carries a price tag of $1.38 million, with the first phase on Walkers Line having wrapped up earlier this year.

EV Chargers Hit Five Parks 🌳

Conservation Halton has installed 18 new electric vehicle charging stations across five conservation areas, including Mount Nemo on Guelph Line in Burlington.

The new chargers were officially announced on June 30. Mount Nemo gets two charging ports at the main parking lot while the other four sites, all in Milton or Campbellville, add between two and six ports each.

The rollout was partly funded by a nearly $98,000 federal grant aimed at expanding EV charging access. All fees collected from the chargers will support Conservation Halton's parks, biodiversity work, and local education programs.

Thousands Pack Spencer Smith Park 🎆

Thousands of visitors packed Spencer Smith Park on Canada Day for family fun, entertainment, and fireworks over the lake.

The celebration took place on one of the hottest days of the year, with crowds gathering throughout the day for activities and performances. The morning started with the city’s annual Canada Day races, where participants had to avoid the temptation to jump into the lake to cool off mid race. The day continued with yoga, vendors, and live music into the afternoon.

The night ended with thousands of fireworks lighting up the Burlington Pier, sending swashes of colour across the water as families watched from the park. If you missed it, the city’s Instagram captures a video of the very impressive display. 👇
