Kids can try padel, pickleball, or both for free. No experience required. Racquet sport background may help, but isn’t necessary. All equipment provided; just bring athletic shoes!

Our coaches will introduce them to the sports, assess their skill level and recommend the right Youth Academy program if they’d like to continue.

Calling all vintage lovers. Explore a new event this fall as The Vintage Marketplace comes to the Art Gallery of Burlington for the first time. The two-day market will take place Saturday, Oct. 24 and Sunday, Oct. 25, from 11am to 4pm each day.

More than 35 vendors are expected, offering everything from vintage and retro clothing to furniture, home décor, collectibles, artwork, and other unique finds. Visitors can also enjoy music, local food, and drinks while browsing the marketplace.

Tickets are $6 in advance or $8 at the door, with children 12 and under admitted free. It’s a fun chance to discover one-of-a-kind treasures while supporting independent vendors.

Burlington is taking further legal action over the approved expansion of the Nelson Aggregate quarry at Mount Nemo, saying it has “consistently raised concerns about the proposed quarry expansion.”

The Ontario Land Tribunal approved the expansion on Aug. 18, allowing the quarry to expand south and west of its current operation. The city announced Sept. 15 that it would request a review of the decision and seek review through Ontario’s Divisional Court before the Sept. 17 deadline.

The city said its legal counsel found issues with the approval that require further consideration but has not disclosed the specific arguments. Halton Region is looking into the same legal avenues, citing concerns about the impact on water resources, the environment, and the community’s overall quality of life.

The legal process is expected in the coming months as Burlington and Halton Region seek further review of the quarry expansion decision.

The Burlington Humane Society has broken ground on a new building that will create more space for animals in need.

The 1,700-square-foot building will be located beside the society’s current shelter at 740 Griffith Court. It will house its second-hand store, The Loft, allowing the space currently used by the store to be converted into additional areas for cats and dogs.

Construction for the addition is expected to be completed later next year and will cost about $1 million, funded entirely through fundraising. The expansion comes as the society continues to see growing demand for its services and aims to provide better space and care.

Burlington’s first Asian Night Market drew impressive crowds to Mapleview from Sept. 18 to 20, bringing food, entertainment and culture together for a lively and delicious weekend.

Dozens of vendors set up in the Mapleview parking lot, offering a variety of Asian-inspired street foods, drinks, and goodies. Visitors also enjoyed live music and entertainment, while families took advantage of the kids’ fun zone.

The free event gave Burlington residents an opportunity to explore different cultures, try new foods, and enjoy a night out with family and friends. The market was part of Ontario’s Asian Night Market series, which featured events across the province throughout 2026.

For attendees, it was a chance to discover new flavours, enjoy local entertainment, and experience something new right in their own backyard.
