Together With Divinity Wellness!

Celebrating 2 Years of Wellness, Connection & Community
For the past two years, Divinity Wellness has been a place where people come to pause, recharge, and reconnect.
We're home to the GTA's only 24-unit Energy Enhancement System (EE System), a technology that fills the room with bio-active energy fields. You settle into a recliner or one of our beds, and the two hours are yours to nap, meditate, or lie still. Nothing is attached to you and nothing is asked of you.
What we're most proud of is the community we've built. We've seen strangers become friends, practitioners come together, and people discover a space where they feel supported, rested, and renewed.
Exclusive for Burlington Digest readers: to celebrate our anniversary this August, experience your first 2-hour EE System session for just $39, regularly $130.
Your purchase also earns you an entry into our anniversary wellness basket giveaway. We can't wait to welcome you!

New Play It Again Sports Opening ⚾️

A new Play It Again Sports is opening soon at 2080 Appleby Line in Burlington, giving local athletes a place to buy and sell used sports and fitness gear.
The location on Dundas Street in the Longo's plaza closed suddenly in March 2025 without much explanation, leaving a gap in the local secondhand sports market.
The shop buys gear on the spot with no appointment needed and pays cash or offers trade-ins. It's individually owned and operated, so shopping there keeps money local while cutting down on waste.
Housing Project Awaits Funding 🏢
Three city-owned lots on Waterdown Road, just north of Plains Road, are set to become a five to 11 storey building with 77 affordable apartments and support staff on site. The charity behind it, Indwell, has zoning approval and money from the region. The missing piece is Ottawa.
Indwell has asked the federal agency Build Canada Homes for roughly $21 million, half the cost of construction. On Aug. 5 the agency announced $310 million for nine projects, and all nine were in Toronto. Burlington's wasn't among them, and Indwell has no timeline for an answer.
Halton Region has already committed nearly $13.5 million. Still open: a 55-year lease with the city for the land, provincial money for staffing, and about $1.5 million Indwell wants to raise locally. The site plan went in July 24, and Indwell is aiming for a building permit by year's end and construction in 2027.
Province Funds Local Trades Training 🏗
Two organizations that serve Burlington are splitting about $652,000 of a larger provincial push into the skilled trades, enough to put 35 people through pre-apprenticeship training.
The YMCA of Hamilton, Burlington, Brantford gets $330,345 to train 20 people, mostly youth, as truck and coach technicians, the mechanics who work on transport trucks and buses. The John Howard Society of Hamilton, Burlington and Area gets $321,930 for 15 spots in machinist and millwright training, aimed at people who have trouble getting hired, including those who have been involved with the justice system. The John Howard program comes with certifications and a work placement.
The rest of the province's $6 million went to Hamilton-area training centres, including Mohawk College's Stoney Creek campus and the Ironworkers hall in Ancaster. Ontario expects to need about 7,300 millwrights over the next decade.

Lakeside À La Carte Raises Funds 🍽
Huge crowds turned out for Lakeside À La Carte on Sunday, the Burlington Central Rotary Club's annual food and drink fundraiser along the waterfront.
Local restaurants served up samples while the event raised money for Open Doors, this year’s chosen non-profit. Since the first Lakeside in 1999, the Rotary Club has raised more than $1 million through the event.
The fundraiser draws crowds of all ages each summer, combining local food with a lakefront setting and a cause residents can get behind.
Help Students Get Back To School 💝
The Halton Learning Foundation has launched its 2026 Back to School campaign, aiming to provide emergency support for 400 students across the region who need food, school supplies, and clothing before classes begin.
One in eight Halton District School Board students is starting the year without basics, while the average family spends $600 to $750 per child on back-to-school shopping. The foundation works directly with school staff to identify urgent needs and typically delivers help within 24 to 48 hours.
Monthly donors who sign up now will have their contributions matched dollar for dollar up to $15,000 for a full year, thanks to belairdirect, doubling the number of students they can help.
