Pumpkin Trail After Dark Brings Halloween Fun for Adults 🎃

Royal Botanical Gardens
The Royal Botanical Gardens is bringing some spooky seasonal fun to Burlington this October with its adults-only Pumpkin Trail After Dark.
On Thursday, Oct. 22nd, from 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm, visitors can explore Hendrie Park after dark, surrounded by 10,000 pumpkins. Guests are encouraged to dress in their favourite Halloween costumes while enjoying the Great Pumpkin Trail, roaming entertainers and live musicians. Food and drink vendors will also be scattered throughout the park, giving visitors plenty to enjoy during the evening. Tickets are $27 per person.
Note: The pumpkin walk will still be available for families during the day.
The event offers adults a chance to celebrate the Halloween season, explore the gardens at night, and enjoy a spooky evening with friends.
Halton Police Board Plans New Approach to E-Scooter Safety 🛴
The Halton Police Board is exploring a region-wide education and enforcement strategy for e-scooters and e-bikes following concerns about safety and difficulties enforcing current rules.
The board voted Sept. 24th to develop a prevention and awareness plan. The strategy is expected to return for further discussion in November at the Halton Police Board meeting. The plan could include clearer public messaging about age limits, helmet requirements and where e-scooters can legally operate.
In Burlington, e-scooters are currently permitted only on the Centennial Trail through a provincial pilot project. Riders must be at least 16 and wear a helmet. E-bikes can be used on roads by riders 16 and older but are not permitted on sidewalks, trails, or parks.
The initiative aims to improve awareness while addressing enforcement challenges across Halton.
King Road Development Faces Appeal From CN Rail 🚆

City of Burlington
A proposed mixed-use development at 1200 King Road in Burlington is facing an appeal from Canadian National Railway (CN) after Burlington City Council approved the project in July.
The Alinea Group’s proposal includes 26 development blocks, with plans for residential, mixed-use, entertainment and educational spaces, along with a park and natural heritage areas.
The proposed project also includes a potential 5,000- to 7,000-seat arena and event centre, a recreational ice facility, an aquatics centre, a basketball facility, a multi-story parking garage, and a hotel and conference centre.
But CN Rail has appealed Burlington’s Official Plan Amendment, citing concerns about land-use compatibility with its nearby Aldershot rail yard and the potential impact on the rail facility's long-term operation.
The appeal means the future of the 1200 King Road site remains unsettled, with Burlington residents watching as the development moves through the next stage of the process.

Alpacas, Afternoon Tea and a Taste of Fall Near Burlington 🦙
A Rock Chapel Road farm recently brought together alpacas, afternoon tea, and a special birthday celebration for a memorable fall gathering.
Rock ChapAlpacas hosted a Farm House Tea celebrating Waterdown resident Rosemary Mills, who was turning 93. Guests met the farm’s alpacas, learned about their personalities and fleece, and visited the on-site studio where the fibre is turned into items such as scarves, hats and mittens. The afternoon also featured traditional tea, scones, sandwiches and alpaca-shaped shortbread cookies.
The farm is also featured in Unsung Heroes: The Quiet Magic of Alpacas, a new documentary screening Oct. 17th at the Ancaster Memorial Arts Centre as part of the Hamilton Film Festival.
