The Circus is Coming Back to Town 🎪

Burlington Centre Image

The Royal Canadian Circus is setting up a giant tent outside Burlington Centre next week, bringing acrobats, trapeze artists, and magicians to the mall for a five-day run.

The all-new two-hour show runs September 3 to 7, with as many as three performances a day depending on the date. Thursday has one show, Friday and Monday get two, and Saturday and Sunday each run three.

Tickets start at $35, with kids under three getting in free on a parent's lap. The circus has become an end-of-summer fixture at the mall, drawing crowds of families from across the city.

SVP Sports Opens on Guelph Line 🏪

A discount sporting goods retailer is taking over the old Giant Tiger spot at 2025 Guelph Line. SVP Sports is opening a 30,000-square-foot store in the plaza next month, filling the space that's been empty since March.

The chain sells brand-name apparel, footwear, and accessories at discount prices. The new Burlington location opens September 17.

Ward Boundaries Shifted This Year ⚖️

Four Burlington neighbourhoods are voting in different wards this municipal election than they did last time around.

North Tyandaga has moved from Ward 1 to Ward 3. Leighland switched from Ward 2 to Ward 1. Palmer went from Ward 4 to Ward 3, and Maple Beach shifted from Ward 1 to Ward 2.

The changes follow new ward boundaries city council approved last year. Residents can check which ward they're in now using the city's interactive municipal election map online.

Calling All Cornhole Players 🎯

A new sanctioned cornhole league is coming to Burlington, bringing weekly Friday night competitions with prize money and national rankings to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 60.

Jordan Melo is launching the Lion's Den Cornhole Club after discovering competitive cornhole through the Hamilton league last season. Players drop in for $15 per week, get six guaranteed games, and compete in skill-based tiers for cash prizes. The league is partnered with the American Cornhole League, so results feed into a national ranking system.

The soft launch is set for September 25, with the official season running October through July.
